Technology for producing phosphate cathode precursor materials, including processes for iron phosphate, manganese iron phosphate, battery-grade ferrous oxalate, battery-grade lithium dihydrogen or hydrogen phosphate, and lithium phosphate. The iron phosphate must have a tap density above 1.2 g/cc and magnetic impurities below 10 ppb.
